Meet Your Neighbors (MYN) provides emergency preparedness and disaster response education in Oakmont. MYN leaders are asking for your help in establishing emergency preparedness protocols in every neighborhood, and transition them to MYN.
Recently MYN has been focusing attention on Oakmont’s sub-HOAs, which amount to nearly half of our friends and neighbors. To establish sub-HOAs as “official” MYN neighborhoods and increase participation, MYN is in discussions with sub-HOA leaders. So far, 11 of the 37 sub-HOAs have 100% MYN coverage; the remaining 26 sub-HOAs have either partial or no coverage.
MYN has much to offer, including a robust website with a wealth of information, and assistance in establishing MYN. Emergency preparedness isn’t just an individual effort, it’s a community endeavor. Neighborhoods can come together to organize drills, workshops, and information-sharing sessions. During a disaster, MYN neighborhoods may foster a sense of unity and create a safety net that can prove invaluable during times of crisis.
