Norma Baumsteiger, Oakmont’s Volunteer Traffic Coordinator, Dies at 89

Norma Baumsteiger Sept. 16, 1934 – Jan 17, 2024.

Oakmont’s self-appointed Volunteer Traffic Coordinator for 4 years passed recently of a sudden heart attack. She had recently moved from her Oakmont Drive home to live with her eldest son in San Anselmo. She revisited Oakmont every couple weeks to visit friends, neighbors and to patrol the streets again with her “Slow” sign. She was a fireball of energy and focused much of it on trying to protect deer, and other animals, as well as pedestrians, from being killed by speeding cars.

She will be dearly missed by her neighbors, all the people who stopped to thank her for her volunteerism, the Oakmont Italian Club and so many others. Thank you, Norma, you’ve earned a rest.
