A message from OVA Staff
Holding the door open for the person behind you can be a neighborly thing to do. But when it comes to our facilities, this small act of kindness can create a bigger problem.
Each of our facilities requires an access card to enter. This is how the OVA ensures our facilities are being used by the residents who pay for and maintain them. When someone without a card slips in behind a member who’s holding the door, it could be granting entrance to a non-resident, allowing them to use amenities that are meant for our community alone. Holding the door feels like the courteous thing to do, but a friendly reminder is all it takes: if someone doesn’t have their own access card, they shouldn’t be coming in with yours.
If a guest is with you, however, that’s different. Per long-standing OVA policy, a guest doesn’t need their own access card as long as they’re accompanied by their resident host. The concern is specifically about letting someone in when no resident is present to host them, giving a non-resident unauthorized access to our facilities.
For questions about OVA’s Access Card Policy or Guest Policy, please visit our policies at oakmontvillage.com/docs, or call/visit the front desk at the OVA Office.
Thank you for helping us keep our facilities safe, secure, and available for the residents they’re intended for.
