Two Oakmont Volunteers Honored by OVA Board

Joanne Phillips and Lesli Lee were honored with service awards at the OVA Board Meeting on June 16.

Phillips, a member of the Finance and Golf Course committees and the Nine and Wine golf group, and host of trivia events at Oak Restaurant and Oakmont Community Foundation (OCF) fundraising events, was named Volunteer of the Year by the board. Phillips was also awarded the Susan Millar Award by the Oakmont Community Foundation, which includes a $1,000 grant to an eligible Oakmont club or group selected by the recipient.

Lee was named Community Service Volunteer of the Year for her work leading the Oakmont Environmental Stewardship Task Force, which has brought new green compost bins to OVA facilities, coordinated waste ambassadors for events, and helped organize an Eco-Friendly Garden & Firewise Home Tour.

Editor’s Note: An article in the June 27 issue of Oakmont News incorrectly identified the golf group as “Nine and Dine.” The group’s correct name is “Nine and Wine”. We regret the error.
